5 Foolproof Ways To Protect Your New Corvette
Corvettes are excellent turn-key cars. Yet, they’re especially vulnerable to external elements like road debris, curbs, and the weather.
If you have a brand new Corvette, there are some maintenance habits and aftermarket solutions that are good ideas. These solutions are effective ways to help protect your new pride and joy from damage. Here are five solutions we find to be quite effective for Corvettes:
1. Install A Lip Kit

Corvettes are among the vehicles with the lowest ground clearance. That means a Corvette has a higher risk of vehicle damage than, say, a Honda CRV. That’s why we always recommend installing a lip kit if you own a Corvette.
A quality lip kit will protect your Corvette’s bumpers and sideskirts from scratches, dents, and other types of damage. If you drive over an obstacle, the lip will absorb the damage instead of the vehicle itself.
Not all lip kits are high quality, though. There are some low quality lip kits that will rip or fall off after a little while. If you want a lip kit that looks great and will still provide protection after a long time, get an All-Fit Lip Kit. Our lip kits are so sturdy and reliable that an endurance racing team uses them on their Porsche Caymans.
2. Install Rim Trim To Your Corvette’s Wheels

Corvettes have low profile wheels. That means the sidewall of the tire is shallow, and the wheel has a larger diameter than most common cars. Low profile wheels have a bigger risk of getting scraped up by curbs and other obstacles.
That’s why we always recommend rim trims to all Corvette owners. All-Fit Rim Trims are strips made out of sturdy rubber. When you apply All-Fit Rim Trims to your Corvette’s wheels, they’ll serve two purposes:
- Provide significant protection against curbs and other obstacles on the road
- Dial up your Corvette’s appearance (if you choose a color that stands out)
3. Wax Your Corvette Every Three Months

Modern and classic Corvettes have with a fiberglass body. While fiberglass looks gorgeous, it has a weak spot. Fiberglass is sensitive to sun and heat damage. The good news is that there’s an easy way to prevent your Corvette’s body from getting sun or heat damage. It’s to wax it every three months or so. Be sure to use car wax specifically made for fiberglass bodies.
4. Use A Windshield Sun Shade Every Time You Park Your Corvette In The Sun

While we’re on the topic of sun damage, let’s talk about windshield sun shades. They’re another great (and affordable) way to protect your Corvette from sun and heat damage. If you put up your sun shade every time you park your Corvette in the sun, you’ll enjoy some benefits:
- Your Corvette’s interior stays cool
- The electronics (such as GPS, radar detectors, etc.) suffer less heat cycling
- Your Corvette’s interior won’t fade from prolonged exposure to the sun
- Your leather steering wheel and seats won’t get cracked from prolonged exposure to the sun
5. Install A Clear Bra

Contrary to popular belief, a clear bra isn’t cosmetic. It serves a very functional purpose. Since Corvettes have low ground clearance, they’re vulnerable to rocks and other road debris. This especially rings true for the front of the vehicle. A clear bra will protect the front of your Corvette from rocks and road debris. It will protect the paint from getting dinged up.
