How To Install An All-Fit Rim Trim Kit On Your Wheels
It’s pretty easy to install All-Fit Rim Trim on your wheels. Yet, you have to be sure to do it right. That includes:
- Thoroughly cleaning each wheel
- Allowing enough time for each wheel to dry before installation
- Applying the adhesive promoter the right way
- Allowing enough time for the adhesive promoter to dry
- Allowing over 24 hours for full bonding to occur
If you’re a visual person, check out an installation video we put up. A comprehensive set of instructions follows:
1. Clean Your Wheels
- Wash the wheels and let them fully dry.
- With the provided rubbing alcohol wipe, thoroughly wipe down the edge of the rims.
- Be sure to move quickly from rim to rim to keep the alcohol wipes from drying out.
- If the rims aren’t clean enough, use a rag and additional rubbing alcohol. The goal here is to remove all the oil and grime from your wheels. When your rims are clean, the adhesive can bond correctly.
- Let all the rims dry before moving on to the next step.
2. Apply The Adhesive Promoter To The Wheels
- Put the provided glove on your dominant hand.
- With your gloved hand, carefully open the adhesive promoter.
- Be sure that the adhesive promoter only touches your gloved hand.
- Apply the adhesive promoter to the edge of each rim.
- A single, continuous wipe with the promoter around the rim is sufficient.
- Your goal is to apply a thin layer of the promoter, the same width as the trim. Less is more, in this case.
- Be sure to move quickly from wheel to wheel to prevent the promoter from drying out.
- Make sure you apply the adhesive promoter to two wheels. If you only apply it to one wheel and wait a while before doing the next wheel, it may dry out.
- When you’re done, safely discard the glove and the adhesive promoter. Be sure to keep it out of reach of children.
- Allow the promoter to dry for 3 to 5 minutes. You want it to create a tacky surface.
3. Apply The Rim Trim To The Wheels
- Peel a 2” section of the tape liner off the underside of the Rim Trim.
- Carefully install the Rim Trim on each rim.
- Move around the wheel, lining up the Rim Trim. As you do this, slowly peel off the rest of the tape liner and then press the trim firmly on the wheel.
- Carefully trim the end of the Rim Trim so the two ends press together.
- When you’re done applying the trim to all four wheels, reapply pressure over the trim. This confirms a strong bond. Then do it again! The adhesive is pressure sensitive, which means that it needs pressure to activate.
- Apply a clear gap strip in the spot where the Rim Trim meets itself on each wheel.
- Wait at least 24 hours before washing or driving your vehicle. The Rim Trim needs to bond to the wheel first.
