5 Things You Should Do To Protect Your New Subaru
Do you have a new or new-to-you Subaru? You may be looking for ways to protect its exterior. There are many different things you can do to protect your Subaru’s body, doors, bumpers, and undercarriage. Some ways provide better protection than others. So you may feel overwhelmed by all the car protection options out there.
That’s why we put together this list of the best tried-and-true protection options for Subaru cars:
1. All-Fit Lip Kit
Many Subaru models have low ground clearance. The Subaru WRX, for one. These cars are more vulnerable than other cars to speed bumps, potholes, and other things that can scrape the bumper and side skirts.
When your bumpers or side skirts get damaged, you’re looking at hundreds – if not thousands – of dollars in repairs. The lower your car’s ground clearance, the more inevitable such damage will occur. That is, unless you install an All-Fit Lip Kit under the bumpers and side skirts.
An All-Fit Lip Kit is a set of durable heavy duty rubber that’s between 1.5” and 3.5” deep. When you affix it to the bottom of your bumpers and side skirts, it’ll protect these parts from scratches, cracks, dents, and other types of damage. It’s such an effective solution that Team Sahlen uses it on all their Porsche Caymans.
2. Regular Waxing
Nothing keeps your car looking new like waxing it on a regular basis. Car wax acts as an extra layer of protection against environmental factors like the sun, dirt, and so on. That means with high quality car wax applied on your Subaru, there’s a much lower risk of its body undergoing sun damage or getting scratched up. In other words, car wax serves as “sunscreen” for your car.
A coat of car wax lasts about 1-3 months. So if you want to keep your car protected at all times, wax it every 2 or 3 months.
Bonus tip: use a detailing clay bar before waxing your car. Doing so will help remove dirt, grime, and contaminants from the body and wheels. A detailing clay bar will also smooth out the surface and help maximize the wax’s effect.
3. All-Fit Rim Trim™
If you want to keep your wheels in tip-top shape, never skimp in terms of quality. All-Fit Rim Trim™ is one of the highest quality rim protectors on the market right now. It comes with high quality rubber and heavy duty adhesive. This means three things:
- All-Fit Rim Trim™ will protect your wheels from curbs, potholes, and other things that can scrape up the edge of your rims.
- All-Fit Rim Trim™ won’t tear if it’s dragged against something.
- All-Fit Rim Trim™ will stay put on your wheels until you uninstall it.
A single All-Fit Rim Trim™ kit comes with a rubber strip that’s 25 feet long. That’s enough for up to four 24” wheels. You have many different colors to choose from:
- Black
- Silver
- White
- Red
- Orange
- Yellow
Blue
All-Fit Rim Trim™ is the perfect solution to curb rashes. With a set of these bad boys on your wheels, you’re looking at a much smaller risk of wheel repair or replacement costs.
4. Windshield Sunshade
If you park your Subaru outside often, the interior may get sun damage. For example:
- Leather seats can crack
- Cloth upholstery can fade, tear, and/or crack
- The dashboard may crack
A good way to prevent the sun from wreaking havoc on your car’s interior is to use a windshield sunshade. Put it up every time your car is parked outside in the sun. It will shield your car’s interior from the sun. Sunshades on the side windows will work, too. You can also make an effort to park your car in the shade any chance you get.
5. All-Fit Edge Trim
Did you know that some edges on your Subaru can get dinged up? For example, if you open your door against another car or a post, the door edge can get dinged up. Such damage is minor but it’ll put a damper on your Subaru’s look.
Luckily, there’s a way to protect your car’s edges from damage. All you need to do is install All-Fit Edge Trim. It’s made of the same material as All-Fit Rim Trim™. You can affix it to some edges on your car, including:
- Door edges
- Trunk lid edge
- Hood edge
- Grille edge
You have several different colors to choose from. It won’t only provide protection. It’ll also add a pop of color to your car!
