How To Avoid Curb Scrapes

Curbed wheel

Curbs are a useful part of the infrastructure system. Yet, they can be a vehicle’s worst enemy. It’s easy to accidentally scrape your wheels or front bumper against a curb. When that happens, an unsightly mark is left on the wheel(s) or front bumper.

Often times, a curb scrape won’t compromise the structural integrity of your wheels or bumper. That is, unless you hit that spot very hard. Either way, curb scrapes don’t look good. In fact, they may even reduce the value of your vehicle.

The good news is you can prevent your car from getting scraped up by a curb. Here are some ways to prevent curbs from damaging your wheels and front bumper:

1. Try To Avoid Curbs

Scrape curb

This is the most obvious advice ever. But it pays to make a conscious effort to avoid curbs while driving or parking. For example, try to park at least 6 inches away from the curb when parallel parking. If you stop your car near a curb, try to angle the front bumper away from it.

This isn’t a foolproof strategy, though. Sometimes curbs are unavoidable. That’s why it’s a good idea to install some protection on your vehicle.

2. Install All-Fit Rim Trim™

If you’re looking for an easy way to avoid curb scrapes, consider installing All-Fit Rim Trim™ before it’s too late. This product is a strip of durable rubber that’s affixed to the rim lip.

The rim lip protrudes out a little bit, so it’s often the first point of contact when your wheels scrape against a curb. All-Fit Rim Trim™ protects the wheel lip by absorbing some of the impact. It’s also weatherproof, which means it won’t degrade over time.

All you have to do is peel off the adhesive strip and then apply it directly on your wheel rim. All-Fit Rim Trim™ is available in many different colors. The product comes with an installation guide, so you’ll know exactly how to install it.

3. Install An All-Fit Bumper Lip Kit

There are several ways to protect your front bumper, such as installing an aftermarket valance or transparent film. The best method by far is to install an All-Fit Bumper Lip Kit. It’s a true upgrade from the plastic trim affixed to the bottom of your front bumper.

All-Fit Bumper Lip Kits are made with a high quality proprietary rubber blend. They’re also:

  • Flexible
  • Affordable
  • Easy to install
  • Easy to maintain
  • Available in 6 different colors

The product has a factory-molded look and it can fit any type of vehicle.

In short, your car is pretty much immune to curb scrapes if you:

  • Try to avoid curbs
  • Have a set of All-Fit Rim Trim™ on your wheels
  • Have an All-Fit Bumper Lip Kit installed on your front bumper
