Here's Why The New Porsche 911 Has A Flexible, Retractable Bumper Lip

The Porsche 911 is a rear-engine, 2-door sports car that has been in production since 1964. The current generation was introduced to the market in 2011, and is currently in its 3rd update. The vehicle is available in both coupé and convertible variants.

For the 2021 model year, Porsche added a new variant for the 911. It’s called the 992-generation 911 Turbo S. This new model is designed to optimize aerodynamics as much as possible.

One of the coolest features this car has is a retractable front spoiler. This front spoiler (as well as the rear wing) retracts to the lowest drag setting at moderate speeds. The cooling apertures are also closed off. When the vehicle is traveling at high speeds, the front spoiler is extended out. This increases downforce by 15%.

This front spoiler is flexible, too. Sound familiar? It’s a whole lot like the All-Fit Lip Kit!

Porsche’s Retractable Front Spoiler Is Very Similar To The All-Fit Lip Kit

You don’t have to buy the 992-generation 911 Turbo S (which starts at $207K!) to enjoy a flexible front spoiler. You can outfit your car with an All-Fit Lip Kit. It’s a much more affordable solution that works just as well.

There are too many similarities between Porsche’s retractable front spoiler and the All-Fit Lip Kit. It’s easier to list the main differences between these parts.

  • Porsche’s front spoiler is retractable, and All-Fit’s Lip Kit isn’t. This isn’t an issue, though. The All-Fit Lip Kit is flexible and very durable. It’s also backed by a lifetime warranty.
  • Porsche’s front spoiler is made from a flexible plastic called elastomer. It uses actuators to get bent into shape. All-Fit’s Lip Kit is more straightforward. It’s made of durable proprietary rubber blend that can bend in any shape without breaking.

Why It’s Good To Have A Flexible Front Spoiler

A flexible front spoiler is a huge upgrade from a regular front spoiler. Regular front spoilers are rigid. That means they can break easily when they’re dragged over a speed bump, curb, or something else.

You don’t have to worry about this problem with a flexible front spoiler. Porsche designs and produces every part with quality in mind. It’s no wonder they decided to go with a flexible front spoiler instead of a rigid one.

Here’s a fun fact: Porsche isn’t the first company to put flexible front spoilers on Porsche cars! A few years ago, professional endurance sports car racing team Team Sahlen entered a partnership with All-Fit Automotive. They needed a way to increase downforce and decrease drag on all their Porsche Caymans. They determined that All-Fit Lip Kits were the best option. So they outfitted all their Porsche Caymans with All-Fit Lip Kits. Talk about being ahead of the curve!

No matter what kind of car you have, you can put an All-Fit Lip Kit on it. It’s a universal solution that works on every make and model! Treat your car to an All-Fit Lip Kit today!
