Got a new or new-to-you BMW? Congratulations! To keep your BMW in tip top shape for as long as possible, take care of it. By that, we mean protect it from a variety of things, including:
- Curbs
- Speed bumps
- Road debris
- Sun and heat damage
- Road salt
The good news is that there are several different innovative products and practices you can implement. Here are a few effective options for protecting your BMW:
1. Install All-Fit Rim Trim™ On Your BMW’s Wheels

All-Fit Rim Trim™ is a set of sturdy rubber strips. They’re affixed to the lip of the rim with a strong, weatherproof adhesive. They stick out farther than anything else on the wheel. That means they serve as the first line of defense against curbs and other obstacles that can damage your wheels.
You can use a set of All-Fit Rim Trim™ to jazz up your BMW’s appearance. This product is available in many different colors. Some colors are fun and bold, like yellow, red, orange, and blue. Other colors are more “low key”, like black, silver, and white.
2. Upgrade Your BMW’s Bumpers And Sideskirts With An All-Fit Lip Kit

Do you want to protect your BMW’s bumpers and sideskirts from scratches, dents, and other types of damage? Do you want to give your BMW a lowered appearance? Do you want to improve your BMW’s aerodynamics and fuel economy? If your answer to one of these questions (or all the questions) is yes, you need an All-Fit Lip Kit.
An All-Fit Lip Kit contains large and thick strips of rubber to affix to the bottom of your bumpers and sideskirts. These strips will absorb the damage as you drive over a curb, speed bump, or another obstacle. Even better, the lip kit won’t tear or fall off, even after it’s dragged over something.

3. Wash Your Wheels Often In The Winter
Road salt can do quite a number on your wheels, especially if you have chrome wheels. It can speed up the corrosive process on your wheels. It’s easy for salt to end up on your wheels. When it mixes with the water/moisture on the road, it splashes onto your wheels and stays there. After prolonged exposure to road salt, your wheels can start to pit or rust.
An easy way to keep the road salt off your wheels as much as possible is to wash your wheels often with soap and water. It also can’t hurt to rinse the road salt off your BMW’s undercarriage.
4. Apply Leather Conditioner To Your Leather Seats
If your BMW has leather seats, be sure to condition them every now and then. If you park your BMW outside often, the sun and heat can dry out the leather. This results in cracks and tears over time. It can really put a damper on your BMW’s appearance. For optimal results, clean your seats once a month and condition them 2-3 times a year.
5. Wax Your BMW Every Three Months

Car wax doesn’t only make your BMW look amazing. It also protects your BMW’s paint from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. So it’s a good idea to wax your BMW every three months or so.
