Whether you’re a track day regular, a stance enthusiast, or just daily driving a car that’s seen a few too many steep driveways, you know the struggle: that dreaded bumper sag. Maybe you caught a curb, maybe your mounting tabs are shot from taking the front end off a dozen times, or maybe you just want that aggressive, functional aesthetic.
Replacing a bumper cover can cost hundreds - if not thousands - in parts and paint. At All-Fit Automotive, we believe in smarter, better-looking solutions. Here’s why installing a Bumper Quick Release Kit is the best weekend DIY you can do for your car.
What Is A Quick Release Bumper Cover?

Simply put, a quick release bumper setup swaps out your hidden, fragile factory clips for exposed, heavy-duty aftermarket fasteners. Instead of wrestling with your fender liners and hidden bolts for an hour, a quick release system lets you drop your bumper cover in minutes.
But it’s not just for the pit crew. Converting to quick release mounts is the ultimate hack for broken bumper tabs. Even if you never plan on taking your bumper off again, these fasteners pull your bumper cover flush against the fender, securing it perfectly and eliminating bumper sag for a fraction of the cost of an OEM replacement.
Plus, for drivers with lowered cars, quick releases offer a bit more flexibility when the front lip inevitably meets a curb or parking block, saving your bumper from catastrophic cracking. And let’s be honest - it gives your build that undeniable, track-ready look.

How To Install A Bumper Quick Release

Ready to wrench? Installing quick releases is a permanent modification (you will be drilling into your bumper and fender), but it’s an easy, rewarding DIY that you can knock out in your driveway.
The Tool List:
- All-Fit Quick Release Fasteners (1 kit per side for standard repair; 2 kits per side for full bumper removal)
- Star screwdriver
- 3/8″ socket
- 5/32″ Allen wrench
- Power Drill with a 1/4″ drill bit
- Touch-up paint or primer (Crucial for rust prevention!)
- Masking tape
Step-by-Step Installation:
- Make Room: Turn your front wheels all the way in the opposite direction of the side you’re working on. (e.g., Working on the passenger side? Turn the steering wheel all the way left).
- Access the Backside: Loosen the fender liner behind the bumper cover and push it out of the way so you can easily reach your hand behind the panels.
- Mock It Up: Figure out exactly where you want your fasteners to sit. Place a strip of masking tape over the area. Ensure the top fastener will mount to the metal fender, and the bottom fastener will mount to the plastic bumper cover.
- Drill the Top: Mark an "X" on the tape where you want your top fastener. Drill a clean hole through the X with your 1/4" bit.
- Rust Prevention: Peel back the tape and apply a quick dab of touch-up paint or primer to the bare metal hole in the fender. Do not skip this step! Let it dry.
- Mount the Top Fastener: Push the bolt through the fastener and into the hole. Reach behind the fender and secure it tightly with the provided washer and nut.
- Find the Tension: Hook the rubber O-ring onto your installed top fastener. Hook the second (bottom) fastener into the bottom of the O-ring, and pull it down onto the bumper cover until you find a tight, secure tension that you're happy with.
- Drill the Bottom: Mark the perfect spot for the bottom fastener with another X. Drill the hole, hit it with paint/primer, and let it dry.
- Lock It In: Install the bottom fastener using the bolt, washer, and nut, just like the top.
- Wrap It Up: Wrap the heavy-duty O-ring around both fasteners to lock the bumper to the fender. Re-secure your fender liner, and repeat the process on the other side!
(Note: If you are converting to a true, track-style quick release that you want to remove completely in seconds, make sure to safely remove the remaining factory tabs and clips during this process.)
